Christmas Vacation in Mammoth

We just spent a week in Mammoth with the Deardorff Family.  I like skiing with them because they are really good skiers and take me on fun runs like Wipeout, Paranoid Flats and Climax.  I also skied with my friend Kailea and her mom Mrs. Hieshima.  They're really good skiers too.  It was really crowded the day we skied together so we skied Gravy Chutes until the top opened up.

Our last day of skiing it was snowing hard and windy so the top was closed.  We skied the trees and powder under Chair 25.  I had a lot of fun that day because my dad skied with us.  He took some video of me, Scott & Briggs Deardorff and Will Proctor.

And here's some video I took on my new "GoPro" camera.  I had it mounted on the top of my helmet.  This is Chair 12, off the top, under the chair and through the trees.

My 10th Birthday Party!

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted to my blog!

My 10th birthday was last Thursday and we had a big party at the beach on Saturday.  My grandma & grandpa Pierce were there and so was my Nana.  Lots of my friends came too.

It was a surf party and Surf Happens was there.  They had boards and wetsuits for everyone, organized beach games, spray-painted custom hats for everyone and gave out trophies for the surf contest at the end of the party.

Click here for a bunch of pictures my mom and dad took and click here for even more pictures that Chris Keet and his Surf Happens crew took.

I went surfing on Saturday and Sunday. I had one overhead wave on Saturday and a bunch of long waves at Poles. On Sunday I went to Ledbetter. It wasn't very big, but here is a video of me.

I had a fun weekend. Today I went to church with the Curtis'. We prayed, we sang and I practiced for the play.

Last weekend was fun too. I went to Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club and sailed in the Holiday Regatta. There were six of us:
  • Me
  • Patch
  • My brother Lucas
  • Shanara
  • Paul
  • Miguel
It was cold and not very windy. Lucas and Miguel did really well.

Here's a video of me sailing downwind next to Miguel.

The fastest we went all weekend was on the tow back from the racecourse. Here's a video of Patch and me on the tow before the rest of the team was picked up.

This Thanksgiving break was more about surfing than about turkey!

I got to see my Grandma and Grandpa, my Aunt and Uncle and my cousins Julia and Andrew, but I also got a new (to me) 5' 3" quad fish--that's a type of surfboard.

My friend Patch and I surfed Leadbetter on Friday and it was great. We surfed Sandspit on Saturday and the waves were really fast and steep and it was really crowded. We surfed Miramar beach on Sunday with Patch's dad and he took this video of us.

The Trifecta

My dad says I "hit the trifecta" this weekend. I don't really know what that means, but I know I got to play football on Friday, went surfing on Saturday and sailed on Sunday.

Here's a short clip on me sailing on Sunday.

Surfing Sandspit

My mom bought be a new full suit today so I talked my dad into taking me out to Sandspit at the end of the SB Breakwater to try it out. On our way out there we ran into my friend Wyatt and his dad.

Wyatt and I and a longboarder had the waves to ourselves until about 4:00 when the tide was at it lowest, that's when some other kids came out who were really good. The waves were steeper than I was used to, but I still did pretty well.

I surfed for over two hours while my dad stayed on the beach and talked to Wyatt's dad. It was fun.

We played Cleveland School yesterday. We won, 12-0. I'm on the kickoff team and play running back sometimes. Last week I got a flag on a kickoff. Yesterday I ran a "55 give". My friend Eli's dad Mr. Lux took these pictures. Check it out.

My perfect weekend is to sail one day and surf the other. This weekend I got to surf on Saturday and sail on Sunday. It was the last day of Seashells for the year and it's called "Dinghy Jamboree". This is a day where we do fun stuff with our boats or decorate them or dress up in costumes. There are fun races like the backwards race where we sail backwards downwind or the race where we pick up numbered blocks and try to get to 100.

Two years ago I rigged a trapeze on my Sabot. Last year we connected two Sabots together to make a catamaran. This year we rigged my Sabot with a spinnaker. Check it out.

Surfing at Mondo's With My Friend Patch

I don't just sail. I go to school, play flag football and I love to surf with my friend Patch and his dad. Check out this video of Patch and I surfing at Mondo's. That's me, taking this wave down the line
